Last updated: 20 November 2025
Screen Grabber (“the App”) is a macOS utility application with built-in clipboard manager developed by Cornel Rautenbach (“we,” “us,” or “our”). This Privacy Policy explains how we handle information when you use Screen Grabber.
TL;DR: Screen Grabber does not collect, store, transmit, or share any of your personal data. Everything stays on your Mac, including your clipboard history.
Screen Grabber does not collect, store, or transmit any information, including:
- Personal information (name, email, phone number, etc.)
- Screenshots or images you capture
- Annotations you create
- Clipboard history or copied content
- File paths or folder locations
- Usage statistics or analytics
- Device information
- IP addresses
- Crash reports
- Any other data
Screen Grabber operates entirely on your local device:
- Screenshots: all screenshots are captured and saved directly to your Mac's local storage (Downloads folder or your chosen location)
- Annotations: any annotations you add are processed locally and saved with your screenshots
- Clipboard history: clipboard items are monitored and stored locally on your Mac. The clipboard manager tracks your copied text to provide quick access to recent items. All clipboard data remains on your device and is never transmitted anywhere.
- Preferences: your settings (keyboard shortcuts, colours, font sizes, clipboard history size, launch at login) are stored locally using macOS's standard UserDefaults system
- No internet connection: the app does not require or use an internet connection
Screen Grabber requires the following macOS permissions to function:
- Screen recording permission: required to capture screenshots of your screen. This permission is managed by macOS and you can revoke it at any time in System Settings → Privacy & Security → Screen Recording.
- Accessibility permission: required for global keyboard shortcuts to work. This permission is managed by macOS and you can revoke it at any time in System Settings → Privacy & Security → Accessibility.
- File system access: required to save screenshots to your chosen location. The App only writes to locations you explicitly select.
- Clipboard access: the clipboard manager feature monitors your system clipboard to track copied items. This is a standard macOS API and does not require special permissions. All clipboard data is stored locally and never transmitted.
All data created by Screen Grabber is stored locally on your Mac:
- Screenshots: saved to your Downloads folder or custom location you choose
- Clipboard history: stored locally in
~/Library/Preferences/com.roundpixl.screen-grabber.plistusing macOS UserDefaults. You can configure how many items to store (1-100, default 20) and clear the history at any time. - Preferences: stored in
~/Library/Preferences/com.roundpixl.screen-grabber.plist - No cloud storage: nothing is uploaded to any server or cloud service
- No network transmission: clipboard history and all other data never leaves your device
The clipboard manager feature is designed with privacy in mind:
- Local only: all clipboard history is stored exclusively on your Mac
- No transmission: clipboard data is never sent to any server, cloud service, or third party
- User control: you can configure how many items to store, search your history, and clear it at any time
- Persistent storage: clipboard history persists between app restarts for convenience, but remains local to your device
- No encryption required: since data never leaves your Mac, it's protected by your macOS user account and system security
Screen Grabber does not integrate with, use, or share data with any third-party services, analytics platforms, or advertising networks.
Screen Grabber does not collect any information from anyone, including children under the age of 13. The App is safe for users of all ages.
